DYTAN Composite Mast Base Joint

General Characteristics:

  1. High tensional and lateral stiffness to enable power generated from sail or the pumping action from a sailor to be transferred quickly to sailboard to achieve smoother and faster accelerations.
  2. Low bending and torsional stiffness to give low contact forces on the mast base to slow its wear and tear and to enable more flexible controls on the sail and sailboard in order to trim their drag angles to achieve high speeds.
  3. Good shock absorption to reduce the impact on sailboard when sailing across waves or after acrobatic actions.
  4. Built-in multiple safety load paths to increase durability and enable graceful degradation of performance; external connecting strings to add extra safety measures.
  5. Low profile to minimise parasitic moments on the sailboard.
